Spacemaker Home Extensions win again
Spacemaker Home Extensions is proud to win the Master Builders Association of Victoria 2014 Excellence in Housing Award for the Best Renovation/Addition over $1million.
The original home was built in the 1930s and was previously unrenovated. The new design is built over three levels, with three bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor, kitchen and living areas on the ground floor and a small garage and workshop forming the basement.
The owners had two main aims for the project. Their first was that, despite it’s size, it worked as a comfortable family home in which the family could be together. And they wanted to create a home to which they could welcome and entertain family and friends in comfort, year round.
The clients were closely involved with every aspect of the design process. Their vision was for a bold, daring design that reflected their personalities and creativity while acknowledging the home’s history without trying to re-create it. Original design features such as dark timber and exposed beams were carried through to the new work. There is an eclectic mix of modern and traditional elements as well as a strong Middle Eastern influence, reflecting the owners’ heritage.
The Middle Eastern influence is evident throughout the interior and exterior finishes, with stunning imported feature doors, encaustic tiles in Moroccan colours and patterns and geometric patterns in external panels and brickwork.
Locating the entertaining areas immediately adjacent to the kitchen was a key design aim. The result is a flexible indoor/outdoor living/dining/recreation zone with easy access to both indoor and outdoor kitchens.Back to List
